yesterday I painted my ceiling
to look like the night and
fell asleep counting stars.
Orion, Scorpio, Andromeda drifted across
their pin-pricked backdrop.
while I dreamt
I painted my walls to look like
a forest and lost myself in
the branches of the tallest redwood.
my sleeping eyes saw across treetops
and into
another universe.
this morning I awoke to
gentle rocking waves, and I
drifted on my bed-turned-sailboat.
there is no shore, only
sea coming from the sky.
I drift
drift
towards the blue horizon.

Comments
I've always wanted to paint the stars on my ceiling.

I always thought it would be cool.

I haven't lost my mind; I know exactly where I left it.
